MT: massed trials
In massed trials the same target is presented again and again, usually with prompts that fade. The aim is for the child to learn the correct response in simple, predictable conditions.
Success here is a first step. The child knows what is expected because the question has not changed.
EXP: expanded training
In expanded training the target is presented among other targets, with more and more items in between. This is where the difference shows. Does the child respond to the target when they are not expecting it?
Many goals stall at this stage, and that is normal. A stall means the child needs more time, not that the goal is wrong.
RR: random rotation
In random rotation the target is mixed randomly with targets the child has already mastered. When the child succeeds here consistently, the skill has moved from a memorized answer to real use.
Probe date and mastery
After random rotation, the target is probed on a set day without prompts, and the mastery date is recorded. That date matters for three reasons: it enters the child's report as an achieved goal, generalization work starts after it, and it gives parents concrete evidence of progress.
Where tracking usually breaks down
On paper, goals move between stages in scattered tables, and a program manager struggles to see how many goals have been stuck in EXP for weeks. A substitute therapist does not know which stage each goal is in.
How this works in Enable 360
Treatment plan goals are tracked in the system through MT, EXP and RR stages, with a probe date for mastery. A mastered goal moves on to generalization, returns to the report as an achieved goal, and reaches parents as home practice.
See the systemFrequently asked questions
When does a goal move from MT to EXP?
When the child responds consistently in massed trials, according to the mastery criterion the center uses.
Can a goal move back to an earlier stage?
Yes, if the child's performance drops. Going back is a normal part of learning.
Does Enable 360 record the mastery date?
Yes. Each goal has a probe date for mastery, and mastered goals appear in the child's report.
